Warranty & claims
We build gates to be the last thing on the property that needs replacing. This page says in plain terms what we stand behind, what falls outside that, and what to do when something is wrong. The exact warranty for any product is printed on its product page and on its listing card; when that differs from the default here, the product page wins.
What is covered
Lifetime limited structural warranty. Covers the structural integrity of the gate or fence frame — the welded steel — for as long as the original purchaser owns it, subject to normal wear and tear. If a weld fails or a frame member cracks under normal use, we repair or replace the affected part or panel, at our option, at no charge for the part.
Freight damage and defects on arrival are handled under the same promise — repair or replace at no cost — as long as they are noted on the delivery receipt and reported within 48 hours (see delivery day).
What is not covered
- Normal wear and finish weathering. Powder coat is a durable, low-maintenance finish, but it is a finish: chips from impact, scratches from installation, and fading over years in direct sun are wear, not defects. Some minor rust weeping from tiny crevices the powder coat cannot reach is normal after rain, is not structural, and is controlled with a bead of black or clear silicone.
- Wood. Wood components are protected with a transparent oil and wax and will show small imperfections and some darkening where weather reaches them. Panels stored wood-side-down in standing water can buckle — that is storage, not the gate. Sanding and re-oiling keeps wood looking right; see the maintenance schedule.
- Installation damage and misuse. Damage from installation, from hinges or posts that were not set to spec, from vehicle impact, or from an opener that was not matched to the gate's weight and width.
- Modifications. Cutting, re-welding or drilling a frame after delivery.
- Labor and consequential costs. The warranty covers the part or panel; removal, re-installation and any other costs are not included unless we have agreed to them in writing for a specific claim.
Openers, operators and access control
GateFrames is not the manufacturer of the gate openers, operators, keypads, intercoms and other electrical equipment sold on this site. Each carries its own manufacturer's warranty — the term and the registration steps are on the product page and in the box — and warranty service for that equipment goes through the manufacturer. We will help you identify the part, find the right contact and describe the fault, and the assistant can pull up the product's documents; we cannot honour the manufacturer's warranty on their behalf.
How to file a claim
- Gather the facts: your order number, what failed, when you noticed it, and two or three photos — one wide enough to show where on the gate, one close enough to show the problem.
- Send it: file a warranty claim with the warranty topic selected, or tell the assistant and attach the photos in chat.
- We review and reply by email, usually with a question or two, then tell you what we will do — repair, replacement part, or replacement panel — and how it ships.
- Keep the part until the claim is closed; we may ask for it back or for a closer photo.
