Measure the drivable opening: the clear gap between the inside faces of your two gate posts (or where the posts will go). Enter that number as Driveway Width. We size the steel frame from it automatically: a swing gate is built slightly narrower to leave hinge and latch clearance, and a slide gate is built wider so it covers the posts. Widths from 3 ft to 21 ft 4 in and heights from 3 ft to 8 ft are available.

Swing gates suit driveways with level ground and room for the leaves to open inward. Slide gates suit sloped driveways, short setbacks, or tight spaces, and they're the usual choice for automation on wide openings. Slide gates are available up to 20 ft wide; side-opening swing gates up to 15 ft (13 ft with ironwood).

Center opening splits the gate into two leaves that meet in the middle (a double gate). Side opening is one single leaf that opens from one post. Center is the better fit for wide swing gates because each leaf is shorter and lighter; Side keeps a clean single-panel look and needs only one operator when automated.

Arch adds a 12-inch rise across the top rail, highest at the middle of the gate. Finials add spear-point caps on top of every full-height picket. You can choose either one, both together, or neither for a flat square top. The 3D preview updates as you toggle them.

Yes. Every gate is automation-ready, and we also sell slide and swing gate operators. Slide gates that will be automated must meet the UL 325 opening-size rule, so single or puppy pickets on a slide gate require ironwood infill; the configurator prevents a non-compliant combination automatically.

Frames are 2-inch American steel tube, finished with a satin powder coat over an anti-gassing primer, in black or white. Posts come in a standard 0.120-inch wall or a heavy-duty 3/16-inch wall for wide, heavy gates. Ironwood infill can be vertical or horizontal, or choose Do It Yourself to receive the frame ready for your own boards.

Each gate is handmade to order in San Jose, California. Production takes about 14 days, then LTL freight typically takes 3–8 business days to anywhere in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii. Local customers can also pick up at our San Jose shop (will-call). Your estimated ship date is shown before checkout.

Yes. Every gate ships DIY-ready with large cane bolts and/or a gate latch depending on the configuration, and our free Swing Gate and Slide Gate Install Guides (PDF, under Documents on this page) walk through posts, hanging, and adjustment. Many homeowners install with a helper; for automation wiring, a licensed gate installer is recommended.
