This kit pairs the D&D LokkLatch REGULAR S3 key-lockable gate latch with its External Access Button (EAB), so a square-post home or garden gate opens from both sides of the fence.
Opens from both sides
The latch body mounts on the post; the push button mounts on the opposite side of the post and works the latch through an adjustable connecting rod.
Won't rust
Engineered polymer with marine-grade stainless steel parts, for metal, wood or vinyl gates, left or right hand.
Adjusts after fitting
The latch adjusts vertically and horizontally once it's mounted, so small misalignment or a gate that settles can be trimmed out.

What exactly is in this kit?
The LokkLatch REGULAR Series 3 latch (with striker) and the External Access Button kit: D&D code LL3ABL, black, sold by King Metals as 21-LOKK2-SET. Fasteners are included.
How does the outside button work?
The push button mounts on the opposite side of the fence post from the latch body and connects to it by an adjustable rod. Pressing it releases the latch, so the gate opens from the street side.
Does locking the outside button lock the gate?
No. Locking the External Access Button locks only the button. The main latch has its own key lock; lock it to secure the gate. D&D's instructions say this explicitly.
Do I need to cut the rod?
Usually. D&D's instructions have you set the rod to your post depth, then cut off the excess about 1/4 in (6 mm) past the adjustor lever and file the end smooth.
Can I use it on a pool gate?
No. D&D rates the LokkLatch REGULAR as a general-purpose, non-safety latch for home and garden gates. Pool barriers need a self-latching safety latch mounted out of a child's reach; D&D's MagnaLatch range is built for that.
What gates and posts does it fit?
Square-to-square swing gates on metal, wood or vinyl, with a minimum post size of 1 in. It works on left- or right-hand gates.
How big a gap between post and gate does it need?
D&D's ideal gap is 3/4 in. The latch adjusts vertically and horizontally after it's mounted, so small misalignment or a gate that settles can be trimmed out.
Are the locks keyed alike?
Yes. King Metals notes that standard LokkLatches are keyed alike, so several latches can share one key. D&D lists the REGULAR lock as non-rekeyable; if you need locks keyed to your house, look at the LokkLatch DELUXE.
Will it rust?
The body is engineered polymer and the working parts are marine-grade stainless steel, so it won't rust or stain. D&D says to lubricate only with powdered graphite, never petroleum-based oil, and to keep sand and debris out.
