About

The RB741 is the one-button remote for Linear Pro / GTO gate openers. Set its code switches to match the remote you already have and it opens the gate straight away, with nothing to reprogram.

The code is set by 9 small switches inside the case, and there's no limit on how many remotes one gate accepts, so add one per driver.

What's in the box

  • RB741 single-button transmitter
  • Visor clip

What you'll still need

  • A Linear Pro / GTO gate opener on 318 MHz (see below)
  • A small screwdriver to open the case and set the switches
  • An A23S 12 V battery when the red light dims
  • For a garage door: the RB709U-NB universal receiver

Will it work with my opener?

  • Linear Pro PRO-SW2000XLS, 3000XLS and 4000XLS swing openers and the PRO-SL2000B slide opener list the RB741 as their remote.
  • Older GTO/PRO openers such as the SW-2500 and GTO/PRO 4000 call it standard equipment.
  • Mighty Mule: Nice doesn't list the RB741 for Mighty Mule openers itself. Mighty Mule's own FM135 remote uses the same 9-switch code and battery, and its FM137 keypad manual names the RB741/RB742 among the switch-coded remotes for MM271/MM272 openers.
  • Garage doors and other brands: not directly. A garage opener needs the RB709U-NB receiver, which accepts GTO 318 MHz remotes.
  • Rolling-code and other frequencies (300, 310, 315, 390, 433 MHz) won't work.

Setting it up

  1. Copy the code. Open your working remote and the RB741, and set the RB741's 9 switches to the same +, 0 or − positions.
  2. Close and test. Close the case and press the button. That's all.
  3. Lost your only remote? Pick any setting (not all nine the same) and teach it to the opener. On a PRO-SW2000XLS: switch the control box OFF, hold the remote button while switching it ON, and keep holding until the alarm sounds (3–5 s).

Frequently asked questions

Which gate openers does the RB741 work with?

Linear Pro / GTO openers on 318 MHz. The PRO-SW2000XLS manual and the PRO-SL2000B data sheet list it as their single-button remote, it's an optional extra for the PRO-SW4000XLS, and older GTO/PRO openers such as the SW-2500 and GTO/PRO 4000 call it standard equipment.

Does it work with Mighty Mule openers?

Nice doesn't list the RB741 for Mighty Mule openers itself. Mighty Mule's own FM135 remote uses the same 9-switch code and A23S battery, and Mighty Mule's FM137 keypad manual names the RB741/RB742 among the switch-coded remotes for MM271/MM272 openers. For other Mighty Mule models, the FM135 is the documented choice.

I already have a working remote. How do I add this one?

Open both remotes and set the RB741's 9 switches to exactly the same +, 0 or − positions as the old one. Close it up and it works. Nothing needs reprogramming at the opener.

I lost my only remote. How do I set up a new one?

If you know the old switch setting, copy it. If not, choose a new setting (not all nine switches in the same position) and teach it to the opener. On a PRO-SW2000XLS, slide the control box switch OFF, hold the remote's button while sliding it ON, and keep holding until the alarm sounds (3–5 s). Other openers use a LEARN button; see your opener's manual.

What frequency is it?

318 MHz. It's a fixed-code remote for GTO / Linear Pro receivers, which are specified at 318 MHz. It won't work with rolling-code or 300, 310, 315, 390 or 433 MHz openers.

How many remotes can one gate use?

As many as you like. Every remote set to your gate's code will open it.

Can it open my garage door?

Not directly. A garage door opener needs the RB709U-NB universal receiver, which learns GTO 318 MHz remotes and connects to the opener's push-button terminals. If you want gate and garage on one remote, the two-button RB742 is the usual choice.

What battery does it take?

One A23S 12 V battery. Replace it when the red light is dim or flickers.

What range should I expect?

GTO rates its receivers at 50 to 100 ft, depending on weather, terrain and interference. On a PRO-SW2000XLS, range drops below 5 ft if the control box cover is off.

RB741, RB742 or RB743?

The RB741 has one button for one gate. The RB742 (two buttons) and RB743 (three) can run several gate openers, or a gate plus a garage door through the RB709U-NB receiver.

What's the warranty?

One year from purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty is void if the remote was bought from an unauthorized online seller.
