About
The DoorBird surface-mount housing is the on-wall backbox for the D2101KV and its sibling door stations. It screws to the face of a wall, pillar or post, so there's no cut-out to make, and the door station's front panel closes over it with security screws.

It's also the housing DoorBird's protective hood needs, so choose it for exposed gate pillars and walls.

Frequently asked questions
Does it include the intercom?
No, it's only the backbox. The D2101KV door station is sold separately, and DoorBird's data sheet says the station ships without a mounting housing.
Which DoorBird door stations does it fit?
DoorBird says it fits only these IP video door stations: D2101KV, D2102FV Fingerprint 50, D2102FV EKEY, D2101FV EKEY sLine, D2102FV EKEY sLine, D2201KV, D2202FV Fingerprint 50, D2201FV EKEY sLine and D2202FV EKEY sLine. It does not fit the D2101V or D2201V, which use different housings.
Surface or flush: which do I need?
Surface mount screws onto the wall or pillar with no cut-out, and it's the only option that takes the protective hood. Flush mount recesses the station into the wall and needs a cut-out about 13 × 4.4 in and 1.8 in deep.
Does it take the protective hood?
Yes. DoorBird says the D2101KV protective hood requires this surface-mount housing; it can't be used on flush installs.
Will it rust?
It's V4A stainless steel (grade 1.4404 on DoorBird's drawing), which DoorBird calls salt-water and grinding-dust resistant. DoorBird notes any stainless can show surface rust from iron particles, so wipe off metal dust promptly and avoid steel wool or chloride cleaners.
How do the cables get in?
Through a Ø31 mm opening with a rubber seal that you pierce with a screwdriver. Covers close any unused openings.
Can I mount it on a gate post or pillar?
Yes, on any flat surface. If you build it into a pillar or mailbox cavity instead, DoorBird requires protection from dripping and condensation, air circulation and drainage at the base, or the warranty is declined.
What warranty does it have?
DoorBird gives 24 months from the original purchase date.
